LANDA’s revolutionary spin wash parts washer passes 'TEC test'
Jim Brockway, manager of Mack / Volvo truck dealer TEC Equipment in Portland, Oregon, will be the first to tell you how he shopped for an automatic parts washer. “The stuff we clean is really nasty. I just didn’t want any equipment that was going to be sensitive,” he recalls. “We had to have equipment that we could literally throw mud into and have the parts come out crystal clean.” Brockway was first intrigued by LANDA’s revolutionary, solvent-free spin wash technology, featuring a water-propelled spray bar that doesn’t need gears, pulleys, drive motor or turntable. He knew that meant low maintenance. But he was converted when he saw it in action, the spray bar spinning at up to 200 RPM and blasting parts with a focused cleaning action like no other parts washer on the market. “We throw parts into the washers, push the button and come back 15 minutes later and have clean parts,” says Brockway. “Our people quickly learned that it makes more sense to abuse the wash-ers than our employees.” Brockway says the cost savings have been significant, especially in pro-ductive time: “Our billable labor recovery on shop jobs has increased. The net gain is a huge pick up in productivity for very little cost.” Brockway invites potential LANDA customers to stop by the shop anytime. “What they see will not be pretty; we really abuse the equipment. But what they do see is how well the washers have held up to our abuse.” Actually, it was LANDA’s hot water pressure washers that got the SJ parts washers in the door at TEC, Brockway said. “We have a LANDA pressure washer over at another store, and the service techs just marvel at it. It has over 10,700 hours on it. Our four LANDA parts washers run 12 to 14 hours a day.” |
